Sitting

So it is not often that you get to picture major milestones in the baby's development by I have two of them (the second will be mentioned later) The day she first sat of her own was September 30th. Like I said she was already starting to figure out the whole crawling thing and that day we were waiting for daddy to get home...I look up and what do I see she had sat on her bum on her own from hands and feet. I was so excited I pulled the camera and got a bunch of smiles...it was also fun for daddy to see her first sitting on her own.

Kathi, Brad's Bday, Family Photos

On September 27th we went up to Brad and Amber's house to celebrate Brad's (Stephen's cousin) bday. They live up in the mountains and we got to stay so short and it was still soooooo relaxing and fun to hang out with our family. We also had with us our friend and "mom" Kathi who came to visit with us for a few days. Gabriela Zoe was just starting to get the idea of crawling about a week before she was 7 months. Of coarse she still slipped and slided on the wood floors but we were/are so proud of her...she is a little go getter. On the same day we also got our family pictures with Stephen's side (we had with my side when GZ was barely born) It was a lot of fun and she smiled for the camera almost non-stop...she is also a little model. By the witness of the girl at pennies she was by far one of the best babies, she may have said THE BEST because all other babies will start crying at about the middle of the session and she was smilling baby from beginning to end. Well I have to say that there were times that she was a little confused with all of us clowns trying to make her smile and despite the craziness she did awesome. I am SOOOO proud of her.

Nonprofit Days

Once in a while I do my search to find fun things we can do for cheap or no cost at all (even better) so I found that the Aquarium of the Pacific was offering free tickets to non-profit organizations. What more non-profit than a church right? So I gave the info to my husband who passed it along to someone who would be able to fill out the application and stuff and voila not only us but I think the whole stuff got two free tickets to the aquarium!!! So on a Tuesday, after a work filled weekend, we packed our bags and drove to the aquarium. It was so much fun and I think that Gabriela Zoe really enjoyed looking at the fishes (taking after mommy and daddy) even though she did not ask for fish at the end of the day. Side note they even have a nice area where a nursing mother like myself can sit down, relax and nurse in private. Cudos AotP!! The aquarium is not huge so when we were done looking at the excibitions we took the little free bus (please) to the little port village and walked around the shops. I never really knew what a fun town Long Beach is :-) a little European in its setting I would think. The weird thing was that it was so dead...meaning there were no people walking around...I guess that fact would make it drastically different than any European town. Oh Well...we had so much fun and maybe in a few years we'll do a family membership because they are so inexpensive!!!! Enjoy the pics

Dating

Since the baby was born Stephen and I have been in very few dates. I think because of the difficulties that I had nursing I felt that it was very important to be with the baby a lot. On the other hand I missed my husband a lot. So since the baby went on solids it is so much easier to leave her for a few hours while we go out and have some fun. I have to add also that Gabriela Zoe is any babysitter's dream because she takes her naps and when she wakes up she is as pleasant as ever. So September 13 we said to gramdpa and grandma "here you go" and we decided to be tourists in the nearby town of Rancho Cucamonga. We walded around the outdoor mall of Victoria Gardens and we visited a vineyard...well more the winery. We tasted the wine...I was careful of coarse since I am nursing. Anyhow, the funny thing is that the smell of the yeast in the winery was yuk...did not like it at all and then every sip of wine I had was stipped in that aweful smell. We also planned to go to a movie but the season before Halloween has the most aweful movies of the year so after the winery we went for ice cream. What a fun date...I think next time we do something like this we will be tourist to another town...let's see!!!

Moving Around

It has been forever and a day since I posted so I am going to pretend I've been updating it all along. So the picture shown is taken on September 2nd which was 2 days before she was 6 months. I was sitting in the living room....if I recall well I was finishing addressing some thank you notes and I look up to see what Gabriela Zoe was doing only to see an empty mat infront of me. So where was she? She had wiggled under the furniture...for a while she was in the backwards moving phase so she kept pusing with her strong arms and got under the cabinets in our living room. After that she did it more and got stuck under the couches also. Some occassions were more joyous than others, since sometimes she would go under even with her head and then she was really stuck!!! I knew that my quitely sitting in the couch while the baby was playing with toys overhead were over. so much fun though...I can't describe it!

Sea World

Stephen suprised us with a trip to....sea world. We spent the night close by so that we can have as much time as possible there. Whats cool about SW is that they have nusing rooms all over the park which is soooo convenient 4 a mom like me. Gabriela Zoe slept for almost 12 hours that night which meant that she was awake almost the entire time...yeah she likes dolphins on tv...but when we were there the people won her over. the time that she was fascinated with anything other than people was in the closed in aquariums...she was engulfed in watching the colorful fish ;-) It was a great , fun day for all of us...and it was great b/c the occasion was....just because.

First Birthday Party

Last Saturday was cousin Camden's first Birthday Party. Her parents picked a beautiful beach with a picnic area to celebrate a luau themed party. It was great seeing all the cousins young and old and extended family and friends. Gabriela Zoe did not get to put on her swim suit because it actually got rather chilly and mommy decided it best not to get cold. So here are some pics from that dayl
